Celebrating Welsh Start Ups: The Wild Moon Distillery

27/02/23

In this week’s celebration of Welsh entrepreneurs, Business in Focus proudly brings to you The Wild Moon Distillery in Wrexham, North Wales, run by Jade Garston.

Jade Garston started her business selling spirits back in 2016 as she believed that her product brought people together and told a story. The Wild Moon Distillery is also known for delivering bespoke bar hire services for witch-themed garden parties, mystical weddings and festivals. The distillery’s collection of spirits is based around Welsh folklore and Celtic pagan traditions. Keeping in line with traditions, The Wild Moon Distillery uses natural botanicals and aligns the production of spirits with the lunar cycles. Jade started a mobile bar for events and soon realised the opportunity for supplying locally manufactured alcohol at weddings. She originally worked with another distillery to develop her products before she started making her own rum, gin and vodka and began selling online. Today, all the spirits that are manufactured at The Wild Moon Distillery are handcrafted in the distillery in Wrexham and are known for their authentic taste of the countryside.

When Jade wanted to expand the business, she needed help and decided to reach out to Business Wales. Jade sought the help of the expert business advisors to bring in structure and support her to formulate a business plan that would play to her strengths. Jade also devised a social media marketing strategy and a cashflow analysis for her business.

When asked about her experience, Jade said, “Approaching Business Wales was the best decision for me as they encouraged me to develop my business plan and mission. The expert advisors also helped me develop an environmental policy and an equality and diversity policy for my business.”

At Business in Focus, we aim to recognise home-grown talent and celebrate Welsh start-ups. If you have a dream to create a business, we can support you.
