Community Engagement Co-ordinator

Contract Term: Temporary (until 31st December 2022)

Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum

Location: Gwent Area (Regular Home Worker - will also require traveling)

Hours: 37.5 per week

Job Purpose

This is a Community Renewal Fund project, coordinated by each Local Authority; delivered and managed by Business in Focus.  The fund aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK, creating opportunities to trial new approaches and innovative ideas at the local level.

The aim of the work is to reach people in the community who may be marginalized by their circumstances and are unemployed, economically inactive, under employed and facing additional socio-economic barriers to work.  The objective is to promote the possibility of self-employment as an alternative via early pre-start business support and will bring people to the point where mainstream Business Support can become relevant.

Job Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the CRF delivery team by coordinating a comprehensive engagement programme and developing stakeholder relationships in the community with clients, business support delivery providers and partners, in both private and public sectors.

The Community Engagement Coordinator promotes the service and undertakes aspects of delivery. The role provides an effective relationship brokering function that attracts and engages with clients, stakeholders and managers. The role organises and co-ordinates community events, undertakes activities with clients to ready them for employment, and facilitates webinars

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Significant CPD learning and development evidenced in career history (essential)
  • Have an established network of contacts in both Public and Private sector that is effective in supporting achievement of objectives (essential)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues impacting entrepreneurs, start-up businesses and SMEs in Wales, the economy in Wales and wider influences at a UK
  • Business related qualification, e.g. ILM Level 3 Business Support, NQF Level 4 Business Administration
  • Implementation of marketing and promotional plans utilising various media and targeting various audiences/stakeholdersOR Degree level business qualification
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues impacting SMEs in Wales, the economy in Wales and wider influences in the UK.
  • The ability to be effective in determining priorities, planning time, organising workload to establish measurable results, objectives and milestones for self.

As well as an engaging workload Business in Focus also offer:

  • Salary £24,000 - £26,000 per annum
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Flexible modern working practices such as TOIL and working from home
  • 6 late starts or early finishes per annum (worth 2 hours each, in line with hours worked)

Welsh language is highly desirable for this role.
