Business Adviser, Youth Entrepreneurship (Part Time)

Reports to: Business Contracts Manager

Permanent Contract/Part Time

Salary: from £28,000 per annum (pro-rata)

Location: Home-based

Hours: 30 hours per week (flexible working hours are required to meet business needs)

Job Purpose

In partnership with Prospects, Cazbah, Markit, Antur Teifi and Business in Focus, for a period of five years, will deliver the Youth Entrepreneurship contract. This service encourages young people to consider self-employment. The service engages with young people from the ages from 5-25 years.
Business in Focus Business Advisers (Youth Entrepreneurship) will provide a service to the older age group, 16 years plus in both the South East and South West regions.

Job Summary:

Business Advisers (Youth Entrepreneurship) work with young people who are considering starting a business by providing them with guidance and advice on a 1:1 basis, as well as support at 1:many workshops, e.g. The Bootcamp Challenge. The Business Adviser uses their experience and knowledge of business to identify key issues and priorities with the client.
The Business Advisor works with the client to support them develop their ideas, helping them to identify and overcome barriers. In addition, the Business Adviser utilises their knowledge of 3rd parties, in public and private sector, who may also be able to provide support and solutions to the client.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Introductory Certificate in accountancy / finance, e.g. AAT level 1 or equivalent, 2 day Kaplan financial course – essential
    OR committed to achieving accountancy/finance certificate/course in 1 year of appointment
  • Proven experience of running/managing a business OR significant experience at senior management level, with responsibility and influence for business strategy and operations that employed staff OR Proven experience of delivering general business advice to a diverse portfolio of businesses.
  • Understanding of local / regional differences in the Welsh economy
  • Comprehensive awareness and knowledge of business support available from Public and Private sectors
