ENTERPRISE MERTHYR

Enterprise Merthyr is a NEW Welsh Government project supporting individuals that are experiencing difficulties and facing barriers getting help with their business idea.

This three year Welsh Government initiative will enable individuals experiencing difficulties and barriers to consider an alternative route and to talk about and consider business ideas, learning what is needed to make a business idea a success. Clients will receive confidential support and guidance throughout their journey.

This programme is perfect for anyone who is interested in turning their passion or hobby into a potential new enterprise.

With the individual at the heart of the project, Enterprise Merthyr helps those that are at the very earliest stages of developing their ideas but may be experiencing difficulties and facing barriers with moving their business idea forward.

This programme supports people who may be thinking of:

• Starting their own business

• Being their own boss

• Turning their hobby into a business

Enterprise Facilitator - Carmel Barry

Carmel Barry has been engaged in helping people setting up successful and sustainable businesses for over 40 years.  Initially, this was part of her role in Nat West Bank, where she worked for 24 years, becoming a Senior Business Manager of one of Wales’ largest branches with a staff of 80+.

Carmel set up her own consultancy business in 2000, delivering support to businesses looking to raise loan capital, writing tenders and bids, as well as writing and delivering training courses. She began to work on Welsh Government business support contracts, with a range of providers including Newport & Gwent Enterprise, Centre for Business, South Wales Chamber of Commerce and currently with Business in Focus.  This new project is providing her with what she describes as her most rewarding work ever.

Carmel says; “This new, exciting Welsh Government project is a fantastic opportunity to reach out and provide support, guidance and help to people in Merthyr Tydfil who are facing challenges and hurdles, and for whom their own business could be a perfect next step”.

“You don’t even have to have an idea yet – you may just want some help to think about what you like doing, what you are good at, and let us help and guide you and see if this can work out for you”.

Please get in touch for a friendly chat and let’s see if this project can help you”.
