Leading South Wales based facilities management specialist AFM Ltd (Amalgamated Facilities Management) is targeting further growth thanks to a major contract boost. The company has just successfully completed a £1m facilities management contract at a blue chip site located on the outskirts of Cardiff. The £1m job is AFM’s largest single contract awarded to date and the company beat a number of UK companies on a competitive tender basis to secure the work.
Works involved stripping out the internal facilities and installing new mechanical and electrical systems including heating, lighting, ventilation, air con, extraction, and high level containment facility. New interior infrastructure was fitted including office suites, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) storage, canteen, suspended ceilings and a Quality Control production lab.
AFM completed the project at the end of February 2010 on time and within budget. The company, which started in 2005, is now well placed to secure similar future large scale contracts. The contract completion marks a period of sustained growth for AFM which should result in a £2m turnover at the end of the financial year.
AFM provides bespoke project management, buildings maintenance services including mechanical and electrical building services, and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and energy management services including energy reviews and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). The company employs eight full-time staff and has built up an impressive portfolio of clients in the Public and Private sector including Biocatalysts Ltd, Target Group Ltd, Zeon Chemicals, WRVS, GE, and the NHS.
AFM is owned and managed by Directors Martyn Wells and Garry Mounter. Martyn Wells said, "Our growing reputation in the sector means that we’re now in a great position to compete for larger contracts. We have a large number of repeat clients as well as new clients which stems from the close working relationships we have with them and the high standard of service they receive."
