Baby Balm comes top for Lulu & Boo at Organic Awards

New organic skincare company Lulu & Boo Ltd has triumphed over a number of well known UK and International brands at the prestigious Natural and Organic Product Awards 2010 in London. The Cardiff based business scooped top prize in the Best Organic Baby Product category for its Baby Bottom Balm. Its Baby Massage Oil was runner up in the same category and its Nettle & Lemon Tea-tree Cleansing Gel was a finalist in the Best Organic Facial Skincare Product category. The annual awards, which are organised by the Soil Association, are judged by a panel of industry experts and are widely recognised as showcasing the best organic products on the market. Lulu & Boo can also claim double success in being the only entrant to have three products shortlisted. James Kightley, Soil Association Trade Relations Manager said, "The Soil Association is delighted to congratulate Lulu & Boo on their success at the Natural and Organic Product Awards. It is a testament to their hard work and commitment to organic principles and is a thoroughly deserved win."

Lulu & Boo produces a range of natural skincare and hair products, as well as baby care and mum-to-be products. All are hand-made from natural ingredients and the majority are certified as organic by the Soil Association. The company was started in December 09 by Claire Edmunds, a former make-up artist. A period of ill health led Claire to discover more natural treatments and products and she decided to re-train in holistic therapy. Claire explained, "I believe that natural and organic products are much better for the skin and hair which is why I hand-make every Lulu & Boo product to my own formula. Having had a lot of experience in cosmetics and skincare, I understand what women want from their skincare. Lulu & Boo is a new company and winning this award means that people will trust the brand; I always knew how good my products were but now they’re also being recognised by the top people in the industry."

Lulu & Boo has had a further 10 of its products entered into the Beauty Bible awards with the winners to be announced shortly. Beauty Bible columnists Jo Fairley and Sarah Stacey sat on the judging panel at the Natural and Organic Product Awards and were so impressed that they contacted Lulu & Boo on the same day. The company is now planning to expand its range to include men’s organic skincare products as it grows the business. Production processes have been streamlined thanks to new equipment to replace filling by hand; a new e-commerce website is under development, and the company is looking to take on extra staff.
