Innovative wiring system gives Newlec a valuable connection

Newlec Assemblies has been appointed as the exclusive manufacturer and sales representative for the market leading Wieland Electric’s range of modular wiring systems within Wales and the South of England. Company Directors Vaughn Smith and Ioan Emanuel believe this development will help Newlec Assemblies to increase their turnover to over£2million and will create new employment opportunities within Bridgend. After the announcement of the redundancies in Bosch, this development comes as a timely reminder of the potential support indigenous SME’s can deliver to the Welsh economy. 

Selling their products in 70 countries worldwide, Wieland Electric has built a global brand and market share through designing innovative and technically advanced electrical modular wiring systems. Wieland modular wiring systems are considered within the construction market to be a marked improvement on traditional wiring systems. Modular wiring systems can be rapidly installed, are completely reusable and through their high level of technical design are relatively future proof. In addition, Welsh companies can reduce their carbon footprint by purchasing these systems directly from the Newlec Assemblies base in Brynmenyn Industrial Estate, Bridgend.

Vaughn Smith said, “We see this partnership with Wieland as a massive step forward for Newlec. There is in Wales a huge untapped market for modular wiring systems. The advantages inherent in modular wiring systems create a very compelling reason for private sector companies, contractors and the Public sector to switch over to modular.”

Company Directors Vaughn Smith and Ioan Emanuel formed Newlec Assemblies in 1997. The Company has carried out long term manufacturing contracts for Sony UK, Harman Becker, Gyrus Medical, Wieland and a host of smaller clients. Newlec working with Wieland has supplied Modular Wiring Systems to a number of clients; these include N.G. Bailey, Mercury Engineers, Carillion, Balfour Kirkpatrick, Shepherd Engineering and Haden Young among many others.  Newlec Assemblies operates a lean manufacturing system and will provide a KANBAN supply service when required.
