Whilst sitting in my hotel room in the furthest realms of a cold eastern Turkey writing my piece for the latest Business in Focus News, I was reminded of one of the key lessons that Brian Ahearne, our New Business trainer and adviser, drums home to his clients on his training courses – if you make a promise to a client then you must keep it.
Having promised my Marketing Manager, Ian Jones, that I would have my comment ready by the 10th February, then setting aside the joys of Turkish television and getting on with the job was not exactly a hardship.
Meeting the expectations of their customers is only one of the many important points covered by Brian during his training sessions. Others include the importance of managing cash flow, pricing and being prepared for the sheer hard slog of running a new business.
During the past 12 months Brian has delivered 403 sessions to over 805 clients thinking about starting a business.
Our training programmes form only one part of the portfolio of services on offer to people looking to start a business. Other services include:
- One to one business mentoring
- Financial planning
- Help to secure public and private finance
- Business incorporation and many more
Business in Focus has always stressed the importance of the need for careful and thorough preparation before starting a business venture – one of the reasons why our client survival rates have constantly been well above the national average.
The survival of our new business clients has been one of the factors that has made Business in Focus such an attractive partner for our colleagues in the banking sector. From its own start over 24 years ago the company has enjoyed a strong working relationship with the banks – three of whom are represented on our Board.
Today we are working closely to continue adding value to the services offered by the banks to their new business clients. Adding value to make their new business ventures a continuing and growing success. (See our news page for the latest articles about Business in Focus clients)
