Use the quiet time over the Christmas period to look back and re-assess the year. Look at your Business Plan and the objectives that you’ve set for yourself – what went right, what didn’t and why for both?
Then think about the key objectives you will be setting for yourself and your company for the year ahead. Build on the positive and look at how you can avoid the same problems going forward.
Set yourself and your Management Team a strong set of KPI’s and make them measurable; woolly KPI’s should be avoided – and remember that these should be reviewed regularly.
Remember most well intentioned New Year’s resolutions are forgotten by February. You need to ensure that if you have good intentions that they should be maintained throughout the year.
To paraphrase a well known saying – “A business is for life and not just for Christmas” – it needs nurturing and plenty of exercise.
And finally....wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
